The NORTON 66253043737 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel built for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The wheel is constructed from aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix, producing a porous, medium-grade structure rated at 80 grit and hardness code K. It is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. This wheel is installed and dressed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in production and job-shop environments.
This wheel is suited for flat-surface and cylindrical grinding work across a broad range of materials. Documented material applications include 400 Series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Compatible equipment includes surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The 32A series designation reflects Norton's aluminum oxide grain formulation, which is well-suited to high-stock-removal passes as well as finish grinding in the medium-grit range.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Documented material compatibility includes 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheels must be installed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Before mounting, perform a ring test to check for cracks, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Always use proper flanges and a blotter between the flange and wheel face; never force the wheel onto the spindle.
