The NORTON 66253043736 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cutting action and good form-holding under repeated passes. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and carries an 80 grit, J hardness (medium grade) specification — a configuration well suited for medium-stock-removal work where surface finish and flatness are both priorities. Rated at 3,600 RPM maximum. The series designation is 32A80-JVBE.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in tool-room, maintenance, and production environments. It is suited for ferrous applications including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, and cast, ductile, and gray iron, as well as aluminum. The medium grade and 80 grit make it a versatile choice for general-purpose surface grinding where operators need reliable, repeatable results across a range of workpiece materials.
Compatible with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines equipped with a 1-1/4 inch arbor. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA 1910.215 safety standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test; do not mount a damaged wheel. Ensure the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Always install proper wheel flanges and blotters, and dress the wheel after mounting before taking the first pass.
