The NORTON 66253043652 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision flat grinding on hard metals and alloys. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent stock removal and a controlled cut on demanding materials including stainless steel, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and cast iron. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. The I hardness code and medium grade rating make it suitable for moderate-pressure surface grinding applications where wheel life and cut consistency matter.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production and tool-room environments. It is well suited to shops running 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and iron castings including ductile and gray iron. The porous, semi-friable ceramic structure helps the wheel stay free-cutting under heat-sensitive grinding conditions, making it a practical choice for ferrous and exotic alloy work where thermal damage to the workpiece is a concern.
Suitable for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Rated for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 safety standards. Always perform a ring test before mounting and verify the spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never use a wheel that shows cracks, chips, or damage from handling.
