The NORTON 66253043445 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous metals and high-performance alloys. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole sized for standard surface and cylindrical grinder spindles. It is made from aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix, carries a 100-grit, fine-grade designation, and is rated to a maximum of 3,600 RPM. The vitrified bond provides consistent cutting action and good form retention across a wide range of material applications. Machinists, tool grinders, and surface grinder operators use this wheel in production and toolroom environments.
This wheel is well-suited for grinding soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders, as well as CNC cutting tool machines. The 38A series aluminum oxide formulation is a semi-friable grain that self-sharpens as it breaks down, keeping the wheel free-cutting on harder steels without glazing. The fine 100-grit cut produces a smooth finish appropriate for finish-grinding operations where surface quality and dimensional accuracy are the priority.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Rated for soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. Arbor hole diameter of 1-1/4 inches fits standard spindles on common bench-top and floor-standing surface grinder models.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and never operate above the rated 3,600 RPM maximum speed. Use correct flange sizes and blotters as specified by the machine manufacturer to ensure proper clamping force and safe operation.
