The NORTON 66253043428 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and finish grinding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 8 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The wheel is constructed from aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified bond matrix, rated at 100 grit with a Fine grade and K hardness code. Rated for a maximum of 3600 RPM, it is suited for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and grinding specialists are the primary installers and operators of this wheel.
This wheel is appropriate for both light and medium-duty surface grinding applications in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. Its aluminum oxide abrasive and vitrified bond make it well suited for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The Fine grade designation indicates it is intended for finishing passes and closer-tolerance work rather than aggressive bulk removal.

Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 safety standards. Always perform a ring test before mounting and inspect the wheel for cracks or chips. Power down and de-energize the grinder completely before changing wheels, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum stamped on the wheel. A proper flange set and blotter must be used during installation.
