The NORTON 66253043412 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with an aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel measures 8 inches in diameter by 1/4 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 46-grit coarse grade removes material aggressively while the H hardness rating keeps the wheel from loading on harder alloys. Rated to 3105 RPM, it is suited for production-level grinding on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in machine shops and tool rooms. Grinding wheel replacement is a routine task for machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople.
This wheel is rated for use on 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is intended for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The porous structure of the wheel promotes coolant flow and chip clearance during wet or dry surface grinding operations, reducing heat buildup on heat-sensitive workpieces.
Rated for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting must be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks using the ring test — do not mount a cracked or chipped wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and always use the correct flanges and blotters for the arbor size. Do not exceed the 3105 RPM maximum speed rating under any circumstances.
