The NORTON 66253043399 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and surface finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built around an aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded in a vitrified bond matrix, this wheel delivers consistent cutting action and thermal stability under continuous grinding loads. At 8 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, and with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it mounts directly to standard surface grinder spindles. The 60 grit, K hardness (medium grade) combination is well-suited for moderate material removal where surface finish and wheel life are balanced priorities. Maximum operating speed is 3600 RPM.
This wheel is rated for use on 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is intended for professional use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in machine shops, tool rooms, and maintenance environments. Licensed machinists and grinding machine operators are the primary users. The porous, vitrified bond structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance, reducing heat buildup during extended surface grinding operations.
Rated for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Fits spindles accepting a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Series designation is 32A Type 1.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator following the machine manufacturer's spindle speed and flange requirements. Always verify the machine's maximum spindle RPM does not exceed the wheel's rated 3600 RPM before mounting. Conduct a ring test on the wheel before installation to check for cracks, and use proper blotters between the wheel and flanges as required by ANSI B11.9 grinding safety standards. Never exceed the rated maximum speed marked on the wheel.
