The NORTON 66253038889 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous metals. Built around an aluminum oxide abrasive in a vitrified bond matrix, this wheel delivers consistent cut rate and free cutting action across a range of steel alloys. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 60 grit, I hardness (medium grade) combination suits applications where controlled material removal and a reasonably fine finish are both required. Rated to 3600 RPM maximum, it carries the 32AA60-IVTR specification designation. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision grinding technicians are the primary installers and operators.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and use on CNC cutting tool machines. Stated material applications include hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels. The porous, vitrified bond structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance, making it well-suited for wet or dry surface grinding passes on horizontal-spindle reciprocating-table surface grinders. It is a non-tapered, no-recess Type 1 straight wheel, which is the most common configuration for surface grinder spindle mounting.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Fits standard 1-1/4 inch arbor spindles. Stated compatible material applications include hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels.
Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels must be performed by a qualified operator familiar with ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test per manufacturer guidelines. Never exceed the maximum RPM stamped on the wheel, and always use the appropriate flange and blotter assembly during installation.
