Built to the 48A46-HVP2 specification, it features an aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix, delivering consistent cut rate and controlled wear. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and a one-sided recess measuring 3.25 inches in diameter by 0.5 inches deep. Rated at a maximum of 3600 RPM, it carries an H hardness code and coarse 46-grit classification. The ruby-colored, porous wheel structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance during wet or dry operation.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding and cylindrical grinding operations on hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels. It is a standard choice for tool rooms, maintenance shops, and production grinding cells running pedestal or surface grinders. Grinding wheel installation must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test per manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the machine spindle speed does not exceed the wheel's 3600 RPM maximum rating. Never force the wheel onto the arbor; use properly sized flanges and blotters, and allow the wheel to run at operating speed for at least one minute behind a guard before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
