The NORTON 66253019362 is a Type 5 ceramic surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on hard ferrous metals and specialty alloys. Built around a vitrified bond and semi-friable ceramic abrasive grain, this wheel continuously fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, reducing heat buildup and wheel loading. It measures 8 inches in diameter by 1 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and a one-side recess 3-1/4 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch deep. The 46 grit, H hardness rating places it in the coarse-cut, soft-to-medium hardness range — well suited to precision surface and cylindrical grinding applications where a cool, free-cutting action is required.
This wheel is rated for wet grinding operations and is designed for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in production and maintenance shop environments. Grinding wheel mounting should be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 safety standards. Always ring-test the wheel for cracks before mounting and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Use proper reducing bushings and flange hardware rated for the arbor size — never force-fit a wheel onto an oversized spindle.
