The NORTON 66253019353 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous metals and hard alloys. Built on an aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and predictable wear characteristics across extended grinding cycles. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 46-grit, G-hardness (coarse grade) specification targets aggressive material removal rather than finish grinding. Rated to 3,600 RPM, it suits production surface grinder setups where controlled cut depth and wheel integrity under load are priorities. The pink aluminum oxide grain is semi-friable, meaning it fractures progressively to expose fresh cutting edges without excessive wheel breakdown.

Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guidelines. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Use proper flanges and blotters sized to the wheel; never force the wheel onto an arbor or overtighten the arbor nut.
