The NORTON 66253019345 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for demanding stock removal and finish grinding on ferrous metals and hard alloys. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and extended wheel life under both wet and dry operating conditions. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and accepts a 1-1/4 inch arbor bore. The coarse 46-grit, G-hardness rating suits aggressive material removal applications. Maximum operating speed is 3600 RPM. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and tool-and-die tradespeople handling precision surface grinding work rely on wheels in this specification class.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and CNC cutting tool machine applications in both shop and production environments. Compatible material applications include 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The porous, semi-friable ceramic structure supports free cutting action, making this wheel well suited for hard, heat-sensitive workpiece materials where thermal damage is a concern.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 safety requirements. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test on vitrified wheels. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum marked on the wheel, and use the correct arbor flanges and blotters for a Type 1 straight wheel. Never exceed the rated maximum RPM under any circumstances.
