The NORTON 662530-44534 is a Type 1 silicon carbide bench and pedestal grinding wheel designed for sharpening and grinding non-metallic materials. Measuring 8 inches in diameter, 1 inch wide, with a 1-inch arbor bore, this wheel mounts to standard bench or pedestal grinders and delivers consistent stock removal on materials such as carbide, ceramic, stone, and masonry. The fine grit formulation provides a smooth cutting action suited for finishing passes and edge refinement. Maximum operating speed is rated at 3,600 RPM. The green silicon carbide abrasive is well recognized in the trade for its friable grain structure, which stays sharp through demanding grinding cycles.
This wheel is appropriate for maintenance shops, tool rooms, and trade environments where non-ferrous and non-metallic workpieces require controlled material removal. Typical applications include sharpening carbide-tipped tooling, dressing ceramic or stone surfaces, and finishing composite materials. Fine grit makes it a practical choice when surface finish quality matters as much as removal rate. It is sold individually and fits bench grinders and pedestal grinders with compatible arbor and flange configurations.
Designed as a replacement or service wheel for bench grinders and pedestal grinders accepting a Type 1 wheel with an 8-inch diameter, 1-inch face width, and 1-inch arbor bore running at or below 3,600 RPM.
Bench and pedestal grinding wheels must be installed by a qualified technician following ANSI B7.1 safety requirements for abrasive wheel machinery. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test; never mount a wheel that fails inspection. Confirm that the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rated speed of this wheel before operating.
