The NORTON 66252942828 is a Type 5 recessed surface grinding wheel engineered for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in demanding metalworking environments. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, a one-side recess measuring 2.75 inches in diameter and 0.5 inches deep. Aluminum oxide abrasive is bonded in a vitrified matrix rated at 3600 RPM maximum. The 46-grit, H-hardness (coarse grade) specification — designated 32A46-HVBEP — suits aggressive stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Installers and tool room operators specify this wheel when cycle time and cut rate matter more than ultra-fine finish.

Material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom technician following ANSI B7.1 safe-use standards for abrasive wheels. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting — never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed marked on the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test; do not mount a wheel that fails inspection. Use proper flanges and blotters; never force the wheel onto the arbor.
