The NORTON 66252942817 is a Type 5 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous metals and specialty alloys. Built from white aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent, controlled cutting action across a range of grinding applications. The 38A series designation indicates a semi-friable grain structure, which allows the wheel to self-sharpen during use and resist glazing. At 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it mounts directly to standard surface and cylindrical grinding spindles. Rated to 3600 RPM maximum, it is sized for bench-mounted and pedestal grinding machine setups used by machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance trades.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding and cylindrical grinding operations on soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and confirm that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum marked on the wheel. Always use appropriate flanges and blotters, and allow the wheel to run at operating speed with the guard in place for at least one minute before applying it to the workpiece.
