The NORTON 66252942708 is a Type 5 vitrified surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, a one-side recess 2-3/4 inches in diameter and 0.5 inches deep. The wheel is built from aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with a vitrified bond and carries a 46-grit, K-hardness (medium) rating — a coarse grade suited for fast cutting action on hard and soft materials alike. Maximum operating speed is 3,600 RPM. The gray, non-tapered wheel is marked to the 32A46-KVBE specification.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in industrial and shop environments. Material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The coarse 46-grit cut makes it well suited for initial grinding passes and heavy material removal rather than fine finishing work. Machinists, tool and die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this type of wheel.

Grinding wheel mounting should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always ring-test the wheel before mounting and inspect for cracks or chips. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum marked on the wheel. Use proper flanges and a blotter between the flanges and wheel faces; do not overtighten the arbor nut.
