The NORTON 66252942691 is a Type 5 vitrified surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rate and wheel breakdown across extended grinding cycles. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and a one-side recess of 0.5 inches depth and 2.75 inches diameter. At 46 grit with an I hardness code, this is a coarse-grade wheel suited for rapid material removal rather than finish work. Rated to 3600 RPM maximum, it is appropriate for shop-floor surface and cylindrical grinder setups.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in both production and maintenance shop environments. It is well suited for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Its coarse grit and medium hardness rating make it a practical choice for operators removing scale, reshaping, or performing initial stock removal passes before moving to finer finishing wheels.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Rated for material applications including 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting should be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom professional following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum RPM stamped on the wheel or listed by the manufacturer.
