The NORTON 66252942432 is a Type 5 surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on hard ferrous materials. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cutting action and long service life in demanding surface and cylindrical grinding applications. It measures 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and a one-side recess of 0.5 inches deep and 2.75 inches in diameter. The 60-grit, K-hardness (medium grade) specification positions this wheel for efficient material removal while maintaining reasonable wheel life on difficult-to-grind alloys.
This wheel is rated for surface grinders and cylindrical grinders running at a maximum of 3600 RPM. It is suited for production and maintenance grinding on 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The semi-friable ceramic grain continuously fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, making it effective on heat-sensitive and work-hardening materials common in tool rooms and production grinding cells.

Grinding wheel mounting must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Before mounting, ring-test the wheel for cracks and verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum marked on the wheel. Use matched, relieved flanges of equal diameter and ensure blotter pads are seated properly between flanges and wheel faces. Never force a wheel onto a spindle or alter the arbor hole diameter.
