The NORTON 66252942429 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for aggressive stock removal on hard ferrous metals and exotic alloys. Built around a ceramic abrasive grain bonded in a vitrified matrix, this wheel delivers consistent cut rate and long service life on demanding materials including stainless steel, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and cast iron. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. At 60 grit with a J hardness code and medium grade classification, it is suited to moderate to heavy material removal where wheel friability and grain exposure are critical to performance.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in production and tool-room environments. Typical applications include surface grinding of 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and both ductile and gray iron. The semi-friable ceramic grain continuously self-sharpens under load, making it well suited to high-pressure grinding passes where a conventional aluminum oxide wheel would glaze or burn the workpiece.
Rated for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Material applications include 400 Series Stainless, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before each use — do not mount a damaged wheel. Verify the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel before operation.
