The NORTON 66252942318 is a Type 5 surface grinding wheel built for demanding material removal on ferrous metals and hard alloys. It measures 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and a one-side recess of 0.5 inches deep by 2.75 inches in diameter. The wheel uses a ceramic abrasive grain bonded in a vitrified matrix, rated at 46 grit coarse grade with an I hardness code. Maximum operating speed is 3,600 RPM. This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in professional shop environments.
This grinding wheel is suited for stock removal and surface finishing on 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The semi-friable ceramic grain continually fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, making it effective on hard, heat-sensitive, and abrasion-resistant materials. It is color-coded blue for easy identification in multi-wheel shops and is non-tapered in profile.
Rated for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel installation must be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test prior to use. Machine spindle speed must not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing any wheel.
