Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks using the ring test — tap the wheel gently; a dull thud indicates a cracked wheel that must not be used. Always ensure the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum marked on the wheel, and use flanges and blotters appropriate for the arbor hole diameter. Dress the wheel with a suitable diamond dresser after mounting to true the face before beginning grinding operations.
