The NORTON 66252942070 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel built for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Manufactured from aluminum oxide abrasive and bonded with a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rates and controlled breakdown across demanding grinding applications. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. At 46 grit with a G (Coarse) hardness rating, it is suited to aggressive material removal where surface finish is secondary to cut rate. Maximum operating speed is 3600 RPM. Grinding machinists and tool room technicians are the primary installers of this wheel.
This wheel is rated for use on 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The porous structure of the vitrified bond helps clear swarf and reduce heat buildup during extended grinding passes, making it practical for both production and toolroom environments.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Compatible material applications include 400 Series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guidelines. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks using the ring test — never use a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Do not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum operating speed under any circumstances; verify the machine spindle speed before startup.
