The NORTON 66252941618 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel built for demanding material removal on a wide range of workpiece materials. Constructed from silicon carbide abrasive with a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent, controlled cutting action on hard-to-grind materials including stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gray iron, masonry, and natural stone. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. At 80 grit with a J hardness code and medium grade classification, it suits stock removal and surface finishing tasks where a moderate-open cut is required. Licensed trades and tool-room machinists install this wheel on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders.
This wheel is used in light industrial, tool-room, and job-shop environments where silicon carbide abrasive is required over aluminum oxide. Common applications include grinding 300 series stainless steel, titanium alloys, non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper, as well as masonry and natural stone. Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 safety standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation using the ring test, and never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel. Use the correct flanges and blotters for proper clamping, and dress the wheel before grinding to true the face and open the abrasive surface.
