The NORTON 66252941617 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on a wide range of metals and hard materials. Built on a vitrified bond with a silicon carbide abrasive, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and controlled surface finishes. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 80 grit, Medium (I) hardness rating positions it squarely in the finishing-to-medium-stock-removal range. Rated to 3,600 RPM maximum, it is suited for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance grinders are the primary installers.
This wheel is designed for grinding 300 series stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper, as well as gray iron, masonry, and natural stone. It performs best on dedicated surface grinders in both job-shop and production environments. The non-porous, vitrified bond structure resists loading on non-ferrous metals and holds form well during interrupted cuts. Typical applications include flat surface finishing, tool reconditioning, and light face grinding where a consistent, medium grit finish is required.
Compatible with CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders accepting a 1-1/4 inch arbor and operating at or below 3,600 RPM. Suitable for use on 300 series stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gray iron, masonry, and natural stone per NORTON series 39C Type 1 specifications (39C80-IVMT).
Grinding wheels must be installed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and machine manufacturer guidelines. Before mounting, perform a ring test to check for cracks, and verify the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never operate a grinding wheel that has been dropped or shows visible damage.
