The NORTON 66252941323 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on metallic workpieces. Built from white aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent, cool cutting action suited to soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. The 38A series specification reflects a semi-friable grain structure that self-sharpens under load, maintaining cut rate and surface finish throughout the wheel's life. At 46 grit with a G hardness code (coarse, soft grade), the wheel removes material aggressively while minimizing heat buildup at the workpiece. Rated to 3600 RPM maximum operating speed.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production and job-shop environments. Its 7-inch diameter and 1-inch-and-a-quarter bore fit standard spindle configurations commonly found on horizontal-spindle reciprocating-table surface grinders. Typical applications include grinding soft carbon steels, high-speed tool steels, and super alloys where a free-cutting, low-heat abrasive is required. The porous structure of the vitrified bond aids chip clearance during wet or dry grinding operations.
Suited for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines equipped with a 1-inch-and-a-quarter arbor bore accepting a 7-inch diameter Type 1 wheel rated to 3600 RPM.
Wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 safety standards. Always ring-test the wheel before mounting and verify that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum marked on the wheel. Blotters must be used between the wheel and flanges. Power down and lock out the machine before changing wheels.
