The NORTON 66252941179 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision material removal on soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. Built around an aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent, repeatable stock removal at a very fine 150 grit rating. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 0.5 inches thick, and accepts a 1-1/4 inch arbor bore. The semi-friable grain structure self-sharpens during use, reducing glazing on harder work materials. Rated to 3600 RPM, it is suited for surface grinders and CNC cutting tool machines used in tool rooms and precision machining environments.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Its very fine grit and J hardness rating make it appropriate for finish grinding operations where tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes are required. Typical applications include sharpening and reconditioning tool steel workpieces, grinding super alloy components, and finish passes on soft carbon steel parts. The non-porous, vitrified bond construction provides rigidity and good form-holding during wet or dry grinding cycles.

Grinding wheels must be installed and dressed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following ANSI B11.9 safety standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using a ring test. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM rating stamped on the wheel. Always use the correct flanges and blotters, and run the wheel at operating speed for at least one minute behind a guard before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
