The NORTON 66252941038 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous metals and high-performance alloys. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rate and form retention throughout its service life. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 60 grit, J hardness rating places it in the medium range — firm enough to hold geometry on soft carbon steels and tool steels without loading prematurely. Rated to 3,600 RPM, it is suitable for production-level surface and cylindrical grinding applications requiring repeatable finishes.
This wheel is used on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both job shop and production environments. The 38A series aluminum oxide formulation is a standard choice for grinding soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys where controlled material removal and wheel longevity are priorities. The white, non-porous wheel construction helps reduce heat buildup at the workpiece surface during extended grinding passes.
