The NORTON 66252940879 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel engineered for precision material removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It uses an aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with a vitrified bond system, producing consistent cut rates and predictable wear. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 0.5 inches thick, with a 1.25-inch arbor hole. Rated to 3600 RPM, it carries an H hardness code and medium grade classification under the 32A series specification. Licensed HVAC, metalworking, and machining professionals install this wheel on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding operations in both job-shop and production environments. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The porous, vitrified bond structure promotes chip clearance and coolant flow, making it a practical choice for wet or dry surface grinding passes where heat management is a priority.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 general guidelines. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum RPM stamped on the wheel or listed in the supplier documentation.
