The NORTON 66252940595 is a Type 1 flat surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal and finish grinding on metallic workpieces. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rate and form retention under demanding machine cycles. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter by 1/2 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, runs at a maximum of 3600 RPM, and carries a 150-grit, Very Fine grade with an M (Medium) hardness rating. The semi-friable aluminum oxide grain is well suited to applications requiring controlled surface finish without excessive heat buildup. Grinding wheel technicians and tool room operators are the primary installers and dressers of this product.
This wheel is intended for surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and CNC cutting tool machine operations. Noted material applications include soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. The Very Fine grit and Medium hardness combination targets finish passes rather than aggressive roughing, making it a strong fit for tool room and production environments where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. It belongs to the NORTON 38A Type 1 series, specification 38A150-MV.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Rated for soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys per supplier specification. Confirm spindle arbor size, speed rating, and guarding requirements before mounting.
Grinding wheel mounting must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before installation, and never exceed the marked maximum RPM. Dress the wheel with an appropriate diamond or single-point dresser before the first cut to true the face and expose fresh abrasive.
