The NORTON 66252940522 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive material removal on hard-to-grind metals. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and vitrified bond, this wheel operates at up to 3600 RPM and delivers consistent stock removal with a coarse, 46-grit cut. At 7 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it fits standard surface and cylindrical grinder spindles without modification. The semi-friable ceramic grain continuously fractures to expose sharp cutting edges, reducing heat buildup and extending wheel life on difficult alloys. Installed by tool-room machinists and grinding shop technicians.
This wheel is rated for use on 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The coarse grade and soft hardness rating (G) make it well suited for high-stock-removal passes where surface finish is secondary to material removal rate. The blue wheel color is standard for the 5SG series designation.

Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Machine spindle speed must not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and use the correct flange and blotter assembly for the arbor size.
