The NORTON 66252939839 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision material removal on ferrous metals and high-performance alloys. Built around a white aluminum oxide abrasive in a vitrified bond matrix, this 7-inch diameter, 1/4-inch thick wheel delivers consistent stock removal at the very fine grit level. The L hardness code places it in the medium-hardness range, providing a balance between wheel wear and cutting aggressiveness. Rated to 3600 RPM maximum, it is suited for controlled grinding applications where surface finish quality is a priority. The 38A series designation identifies it as a semi-friable, non-porous wheel designed for close-tolerance work.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. It performs well on soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys where dimensional control and surface integrity matter. The 1-1/4-inch arbor hole is standard for many bench-top and floor-standing surface grinding setups used in machine shops, tool rooms, and production grinding environments. No recess and no taper keep the wheel profile simple and straightforward to dress and true.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for material applications including soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys.
Mounting and installation of grinding wheels should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding specialist in accordance with ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Always power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test. Never exceed the maximum RPM rating stamped on the wheel or listed by the manufacturer.
