The NORTON 66252939830 is a Type 1 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and finish grinding on metallic workpieces. At 7 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, this wheel runs at a maximum of 3600 RPM. The 100-grit, Fine-grade abrasive delivers controlled material removal with a consistent surface finish. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and porosity control, making it well-suited for wet or dry surface grinding operations. The semi-friable aluminum oxide grain self-sharpens under load, extending wheel life on harder tool steels and super alloys. Machinists, tool grinders, and CNC operators are the primary installers and end users.
This wheel is suited for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production and job-shop environments. Its material application range covers soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys, making it a versatile selection for toolrooms handling diverse workpiece materials. The Medium hardness rating (Hardness Code L) allows the wheel to release dull grains efficiently without glazing, which is particularly useful when grinding harder substrate materials that would cause a softer wheel to wear unevenly.

Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool grinder following ANSI B11 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guarding requirements. Always perform a ring test before mounting and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the wheel's 3600 RPM maximum rating. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Never exceed the rated maximum RPM, use improper flanges, or overtighten the arbor nut, as any of these conditions can cause wheel failure.
