Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool room technician following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Ensure the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and allow the wheel to run at operating speed for at least one minute behind a guard before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
