The NORTON 66252939528 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and finish grinding on metallic workpieces. Built with white aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent, controlled cut rates at a very fine 220 grit. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. The semi-friable grain structure self-sharpens during use, making it well-suited for applications that demand a refined surface finish without excessive heat buildup. Licensed grinding machine operators and tool room technicians are the typical installers of this wheel.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production and tool room environments. Its aluminum oxide composition and K hardness rating make it particularly effective on soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys where a very fine finish and controlled material removal are required. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and porosity control suited to wet or dry precision grinding operations.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. Part of the NORTON 38A Type 1 series, specification 38A220-KV.
Wheel mounting must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Power down and lock out the grinding machine before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum operating speed of 3600 RPM and ensure flanges and blotters are clean and properly seated before tightening the arbor nut.
