The NORTON 66252939462 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for demanding material removal on ferrous metals and high-alloy workpieces. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rates and long wheel life across high-production grinding cycles. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. At 80 grit and I hardness (medium grade), it strikes a balance between stock removal speed and surface finish quality. Maximum operating speed is rated at 3600 RPM. The semi-friable ceramic grain self-sharpens under load, reducing the need for frequent dressing.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and CNC cutting tool machine applications in both job shop and production environments. Its material compatibility spans a wide range of ferrous and specialty alloys. Typical use cases include toolroom work, precision flat-stock grinding, and maintenance grinding on production floors where consistent performance across varied materials is required.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Rated for grinding 400 Series Stainless, Hard Carbon Steels, Tool Steels, Titanium, Super Alloys, Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, and Gray Iron.
Grinding wheel installation must be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Before mounting, perform a ring test to check for cracks, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the wheel's 3600 RPM maximum rating. Use proper flanges and blotters as required; never exceed the rated arbor bore diameter. Stand clear of the wheel plane during startup and allow the wheel to run at operating speed for at least one minute before applying it to the workpiece.
