The NORTON 66252938885 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous metals in industrial and shop environments. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rates and thermal stability across extended grinding cycles. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter and 3/4 inches thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. At 46 grit with an I hardness code (coarse grade, medium hardness rating), it is suited for aggressive material removal rather than fine finishing work. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and grinding machine operators are the primary users.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Its coarse, porous structure makes it well-matched to hard carbon steels, soft carbon Steels, and tool steels where rapid stock removal is the priority. The one-side recessed profile (recess diameter 3 inches, recess depth 1/4 inch) allows proper fitment on compatible machine spindles. The gray aluminum oxide abrasive self-dresses during use, maintaining a free-cutting action throughout the wheel life. This wheel follows the 32A Type 1 series specification, designated 32AA46-IVTR.
Rated for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels. Fits machines with a 1-1/4 inch arbor and accepts a 3-inch recessed spindle flange.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and never exceed the rated maximum RPM of 3600. Power down and lockout the machine before mounting or removing the wheel. Use properly matched flanges and a blotter gasket on each side of the wheel as required by the machine manufacturer.
