The NORTON 66252938881 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous metals. Built around an aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and predictable breakdown on hard and soft carbon steels as well as tool steels. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 60-grit, J-hardness (medium grade) specification suits general-purpose surface grinding where a balance of material removal and wheel life is required. Maximum operating speed is rated at 3600 RPM.
This wheel is suited to flat surface grinding applications in production and toolroom environments. It runs on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The 32A Series vitrified bond structure is porous, which promotes coolant flow and chip clearance during extended grinding passes. Typical users include machinists, tool-and-die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians working with carbon and tool steel workpieces.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels. The 1-1/4 inch arbor hole accommodates standard spindle sizes on machines rated for Type 1 wheels up to 7 inches in diameter at 3600 RPM or lower.
Wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and applicable machine manufacturer guidelines. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and never exceed the rated maximum RPM of 3600. Power down and lock out the machine before changing wheels. Use proper flanges and blotters as specified by the grinder manufacturer; do not use damaged or mismatched flanges.
