The NORTON 662529-42302 is a Type 1 silicon carbide bench and pedestal grinding wheel designed for material removal and finishing on non-metallic workpieces. Measuring 7 x 1 x 1 inches and rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM, this wheel is built for use on stationary bench grinders and pedestal grinders in shop, maintenance, and trade environments. The extra fine grit grade makes it well-suited for light stock removal, deburring, and surface refining passes on materials such as carbide, ceramic, stone, and similar non-ferrous or non-metallic substrates. It is a standard, single-unit wheel installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, and general shop maintenance personnel.
This wheel fits stationary bench grinder and pedestal grinder setups where silicon carbide abrasive is required. The extra fine grit classification suits applications that call for controlled, low-aggression cutting action and a smoother finished surface. The green silicon carbide composition is the appropriate abrasive choice for non-metallic materials, including cemented carbide tooling, glass, and ceramics. It is used in production shops, maintenance facilities, and trade service environments where grinding of non-metal components is a routine operation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit grinding wheel for 7-inch bench grinders and pedestal grinders that accept Type 1 straight wheels with a 1-inch arbor bore.
Bench and pedestal grinding wheels must be installed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheel use. Always power down and lock out the grinder before removing or mounting a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and never exceed the marked maximum RPM. Ensure flanges are clean, properly sized, and that blotters are in place on both sides before tightening the arbor nut.
