The NORTON 662529-42301 is a Type 1 bench and pedestal grinding wheel designed for grinding non-metallic materials. It is constructed from silicon carbide abrasive, which makes it well-suited for sharpening carbide tooling, ceramics, stone, and similar hard, brittle materials. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 1 inch wide, and has a 1-inch arbor bore. It carries a fine grit rating for finishing and edge-refining work and is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. Trades such as tool and die, HVAC, plumbing, and general maintenance shops install these wheels on standard bench grinders and pedestal grinder stands.
This wheel is used wherever controlled material removal or edge refinement on non-metallic workpieces is required. Typical applications include sharpening carbide-tipped tools, grinding ceramite or stone surfaces, and dressing tooling edges in shop environments. The fine grit is appropriate for finishing passes rather than heavy stock removal. The green silicon carbide composition distinguishes it from aluminum oxide wheels, which are reserved for ferrous metals.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or upgrade wheel for standard bench grinders and pedestal grinder units accepting a 7-inch diameter, 1-inch wide, 1-inch arbor bore Type 1 straight wheel.
Bench and pedestal grinding wheels must be installed by a qualified technician following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting, perform a ring test, and never exceed the marked maximum RPM. Ensure the arbor flanges and blotters are properly seated before operating.
