The NORTON 662529-40149 is a Type 28 saucer-profile depressed-center grinding wheel engineered for metal grinding applications. Built with a Gemini aluminum oxide abrasive grain, this wheel delivers consistent stock removal on ferrous metals and is rated to a maximum of 8,600 RPM. The 5/8-11 threaded arbor hub mounts directly to standard angle grinders used in fabrication, structural steel, and maintenance work. At 7 inches in diameter with a 1/4-inch thickness, the Type 28 saucer profile allows a lower grinding angle, reducing fatigue during extended flat-surface grinding passes. Fabricators, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this wheel.
This wheel is suited for aggressive grinding on mild steel, structural steel, and other ferrous metals in both shop and field environments. The Type 28 depressed-center saucer geometry is especially effective for surface grinding at low attack angles on flat stock, welds, and plate. It is sold individually (per each) and typically requires a minimum order of 10 units, making it practical for shop restocking or contractor supply orders.
Designed for use with angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle, which is the standard arbor size on most 7-inch angle grinders used in metal fabrication and structural work.
Wheel mounting and replacement should be performed by qualified personnel following the grinder manufacturer's instructions and applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before every use and never exceed the rated maximum RPM. Ensure the grinder guard is properly installed before operation. Always power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing wheels.
