The NORTON 66252849374 is a Type 27 depressed-center grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. Measuring 4.5 inches in diameter and 0.25 inches thick with a 0.625-inch arbor hole, this wheel mounts on standard 4.5-inch angle grinders. The aluminum oxide abrasive runs at a coarse 20 grit with a medium hardness rating and semi-friable bond, making it well-suited for stock removal, weld grinding, and surface conditioning on ferrous metals. The resinoid bond construction provides durability under sustained load, and the reinforced fiberglass construction supports safe operation up to 13,580 RPM.
This wheel is used in fabrication shops, structural steel work, and maintenance welding applications where fast, aggressive grinding is required. It is installed on 4.5-inch right-angle grinders by licensed welders, ironworkers, pipefitters, and general metalworking tradespeople. The coarse 20-grit aluminum oxide abrasive is particularly effective on carbon steel and other ferrous workpieces where a fine finish is not the objective and maximum metal removal rate is the priority.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement grinding wheel for 4.5-inch angle grinders accepting a Type 27 depressed-center wheel with a 0.625-inch arbor hole.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or damage and verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,580 RPM maximum rated speed of the wheel. Disconnect power to the grinder before changing wheels, and ensure the arbor nut is tightened securely using the appropriate spanner wrench. Always use the guard supplied with the grinder and wear appropriate eye and face protection during operation.
