The NORTON 66252843791 is a Type 27 depressed center grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on metal and fabrication applications. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter and 0.25 inches thick, with a 5/8-11 threaded hub for direct mounting on standard angle grinders. The aluminum oxide abrasive is bonded with a resinoid bond and rated at a coarse 24 grit, making it suited for rapid stock removal, weld grinding, and surface preparation. Maximum operating speed is 10,185 RPM. The black resinoid bond construction handles the heat and shock loads typical in heavy grinding work. This wheel is installed by metalworkers, fabricators, welders, and maintenance technicians working with angle grinders in shop and field environments.
This wheel fits common 7-inch angle grinders used in structural steel fabrication, shipbuilding, manufacturing, and maintenance repair operations. The Type 27 depressed center profile keeps the grinding face flat to the work surface, which is preferred for flat stock, weld seam grinding, and surface blending. The 24 grit coarse grade removes material quickly and is best suited for carbon steel, stainless steel, and similar ferrous metals where finish quality is secondary to removal rate.
Designed as a direct-mount replacement for 7-inch Type 27 depressed center grinding wheels with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor, compatible with standard 7-inch angle grinders accepting that hub size.
Installation and wheel changes must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Always power down and disconnect the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before each use and never exceed the rated maximum RPM of the grinder or the wheel, whichever is lower. Proper flange hardware and guard must be in place before operation.
