The NORTON 66252843256 is a Type 1 flat cut-off wheel engineered for aggressive cutting on steel and stainless steel using stationary abrasive equipment. Built with zirconia alumina abrasive at 36 grit, this wheel delivers fast, free-cutting action with reduced heat buildup compared to standard aluminum oxide wheels. It measures 16 inches in diameter and 7/64 inches thick, with a 1-inch arbor hole. The resinoid bond and reinforced fiberglass construction on both sides allow the wheel to handle the lateral stresses common in production cutting environments. Rated to a maximum of 3820 RPM, it is sized and rated for stationary tool use only. Weight is approximately 2.37 pounds.
This cut-off wheel is designed for use with stationary cutting machines in fabrication shops, metal service centers, and industrial maintenance environments. It is well suited for cross-cutting structural steel, pipe, angle iron, and stainless steel stock. The Bluefire Free Cut designation indicates the abrasive formulation is optimized for cooler, faster cuts that extend wheel life and reduce workpiece discoloration, which is especially important when cutting stainless steel where heat-affected zones can compromise corrosion resistance.
Designed for use with stationary cut-off machines accepting a 16-inch Type 1 wheel with a 1-inch arbor hole, rated at or below 3820 RPM. Suitable for cutting steel and stainless steel stock.
Installation and wheel changes must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before each use and confirm the machine RPM rating does not exceed the wheel maximum of 3820 RPM. This wheel is rated for stationary tool use only and must not be used on handheld angle grinders.
