The NORTON 66252843205 is a Type 27 depressed center grinding wheel designed for use with angle grinders in heavy-duty material removal applications. The 4.5-inch diameter wheel is constructed from a zirconia alumina and silicon carbide blend bonded with a resinoid bond, delivering aggressive stock removal on hard materials including stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and masonry. At 24 grit coarse grade, this wheel cuts fast and is suited for weld cleanup, surface conditioning, and edge grinding. The maximum rated speed is 13,580 RPM, and the wheel measures 0.25 inches thick with a 7/8-inch arbor hole. Licensed trades and fabrication shops use this type of wheel routinely for both shop and field work.
This wheel is rated for angle grinder use and fits standard 4.5-inch angle grinders equipped with a 7/8-inch arbor. The coarse 24-grit specification makes it best suited for aggressive grinding tasks such as removing welds, deburring castings, and shaping or beveling metal edges. The resinoid bond provides durability under sustained load and lateral pressure. The Type 27 depressed center profile allows the grinding face to contact the workpiece at a low angle, giving the operator improved control and visibility during grinding passes. This wheel is sold individually.
Designed for use with 4.5-inch angle grinders equipped with a 7/8-inch arbor connection. Confirm that the tool's rated no-load RPM does not exceed the 13,580 RPM maximum rating of this wheel before mounting.
Mounting and operation of grinding wheels must comply with ANSI B7.1 safety standards and the grinder manufacturer's instructions. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before mounting and perform a ring test per ANSI guidelines. Ensure the grinder guard is in place and the tool is powered off and unplugged before changing wheels. Always wear appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during grinding operations.
