The NORTON 66252839427 is a Type 27 depressed center grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on metal and fabricated surfaces. Built with a ceramic alumina abrasive grain and a resinoid bond, it delivers consistent cut rate and long wheel life under sustained load. The coarse 24 grit rating makes it well suited for weld grinding, surface prep, and stock removal where speed matters more than finish. At 6 inches in diameter and 1/8 inch thick, it mounts via a standard 5/8-11 threaded hub and is rated to a maximum of 10,185 RPM. Fabricators, welders, pipe fitters, and metalworkers are the primary installers and users of this wheel.
This wheel is used in metal fabrication shops, structural steel work, pipe welding, and general maintenance grinding. The Type 27 depressed center profile keeps the grinding face slightly raised off the workpiece, allowing better angle grinder clearance and improved operator sightlines during flat or contoured surface work. It is suitable for use on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous materials in both shop and field environments. The rigid, non-flexible construction keeps the wheel stable under load at high RPM.
Designed for use with angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle, which is the standard connection on most 6 inch angle grinders used in metal fabrication and welding applications.
This wheel must be installed and operated by personnel familiar with abrasive wheel safety per ANSI B7.1 standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before mounting and never exceed the rated maximum RPM of 10,185. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before mounting or removing the wheel. Ensure the wheel guard is in place before operation.
