The NORTON 66252839022 is a stringer bead twist wire wheel brush designed for aggressive surface preparation on metal and fabricated components. Built with stainless steel fill wire in the coarse grade, it delivers effective removal of weld spatter, mill scale, rust, and surface contamination. The brush mounts via a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole and is rated to 20,000 RPM, making it compatible with standard angle grinders and die grinders used in welding, fabrication, and industrial maintenance work. The 0.25-inch face width concentrates wire contact in a narrow band, which is ideal for cleaning weld beads and tight grooves without excessive material removal.
This wheel brush is suited for use in metal fabrication shops, pipe welding, structural steel work, and general industrial cleaning applications. The stringer bead twist wire configuration provides a more aggressive cutting action than crimped wire, making it effective on heavier scale and tightly adhered deposits. It is typically used by welders, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians who require consistent surface prep results at high rotational speeds. The stainless steel wire resists contamination of workpieces where carbon steel wire is not appropriate, such as stainless or aluminum substrates.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement wheel brush for use with angle grinders and bench grinders fitted with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor spindle.
Installation should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with abrasive tool mounting procedures. Always power down and unplug or lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the brush. Confirm the grinder spindle thread matches the 5/8-11 arbor specification and that the tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the brush maximum of 20,000 RPM. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield and gloves when operating wire brushes at speed.
