The NORTON 66252839015 is a knotted carbon steel wheel brush designed for aggressive surface preparation and weld cleaning on metal workpieces. Mounted via a 1/4-inch shank, it installs directly into a die grinder or drill press without requiring a separate arbor. The 3-inch outside diameter and coarse-grade knotted wire configuration deliver high contact pressure, making it well suited for removing rust, mill scale, weld spatter, and heavy oxidation. Rated to 25,000 RPM, it handles the high speeds typical of pneumatic and electric die grinders used in fabrication, HVAC ductwork prep, and general metal finishing work.
This wheel brush is used in light industrial, commercial, and trade shop applications where fast, aggressive wire brushing is required on steel, iron, and similar hard metals. Typical install scenarios include pre-weld joint cleaning, post-weld spatter removal, surface prep before coating or painting, and deburring operations. The 1/4-inch shank allows compatibility with standard collet die grinders and keyless chuck drills. The 5/8-inch trim length and 1/4-inch face width focus the abrasive contact into a narrow, controlled path suited for working in tight areas such as weld seams and pipe joints.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement wheel brush for use with 1/4-inch collet die grinders and 1/4-inch chuck portable drills rated at or below 25,000 RPM.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified tradespeople familiar with abrasive tool safety. Always verify that the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 25,000 RPM maximum rating of the brush before mounting. Disconnect power or depressurize the air supply before installing or removing the brush. Wear appropriate PPE including eye and face protection in compliance with applicable ANSI and OSHA standards when operating wire brushes at speed.
