The NORTON 66252838528 is a Type 11 flaring cup grinding wheel designed for tool grinding and surface conditioning on bench or pedestal grinders. Made from aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent stock removal on ferrous metals and tool steel. It runs at a maximum of 3820 RPM and carries a K hardness code, placing it in the medium grade range. At 6 inches in diameter with a 3/8-inch face width and a 1-1/4-inch arbor hole, it fits standard shop grinders used by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians.
This wheel is suited for precision tool grinding applications in shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The Type 11 cup profile makes it effective for grinding clearance angles on drill bits, lathe tools, and similar cutting implements. The 46 grit aluminum oxide construction removes material efficiently while producing a finish appropriate for edge sharpening and reconditioning of high-speed steel and carbon steel tooling. The non-porous vitrified bond provides rigidity and consistent abrasive exposure throughout the wheel life.
Designed for use on bench grinders and pedestal grinders with a 1-1/4-inch arbor and a spindle speed at or below 3820 RPM. Verify machine speed rating before mounting.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safe use guidelines for grinding wheels. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before each use by performing a ring test; do not mount a wheel that sounds dull or shows visible damage. Always use the proper flange size and ensure the arbor hole fits without forcing before tightening.
