The NORTON 66252837717 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on a wide range of metals and hard materials. Built with a silicon carbide abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rates and holds its form well under sustained grinding loads. The wheel measures 6 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and carries a 100 grit, Fine grade specification with an I hardness code. Rated to 4140 RPM maximum, it is sized for bench-top and floor-standing surface grinders. The green wheel color is standard for silicon carbide vitrified wheels of this series.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding operations on non-ferrous metals, ferrous alloys, and hard non-metallic materials. Documented material applications include 300 series stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gray iron, masonry, and natural stone. Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom technician following ANSI B11 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guarding requirements. Always verify the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 4140 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel before mounting. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and perform a ring test to check for cracks before installation. Do not exceed the rated RPM under any operating condition.
