The NORTON 66252837584 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on a wide range of materials. Built on a vitrified bond with silicon carbide abrasive, this wheel delivers consistent, cool cutting action suited to non-ferrous metals, cast iron, masonry, and natural stone. It measures 6 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. At a medium grade with an I hardness code and 60 grit, it balances aggressive material removal with controlled surface finish. Rated to 4140 RPM and designated by specification code 39C60-IVMT, it is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians working on surface and cylindrical grinders.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production and tool-room environments. Compatible material applications include 300 series stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gray iron, masonry, and natural stone. The green silicon carbide abrasive makes it well suited to hard, brittle, or heat-sensitive materials where aluminum oxide wheels would generate excessive heat or loading. It fits standard 1-1/4 inch spindle arbors common to bench and pedestal-style surface grinding equipment.

Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test prior to use. Power down and lock out the grinder before installing or removing the wheel, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the wheel maximum RPM rating. Use properly sized flanges and a compressible blotter between the wheel and flanges as required by the machine manufacturer.
